Female Coaches Make a Difference!

Do you want to be involved in your child’s sports team but feel like you don’t know where to start? You don’t have to be an expert to make a difference! You bring leadership, perspective, encouragement, and a powerful example to young athletes. 

Join us for Whistles and Wisdom: Women Shaping Youth Sports, a welcoming free coaching workshop hosted by Maine Recreation and Parks Association’s Youth Sports Committee at Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth. Whether you’re a team helper, first-time coach, or experienced coach, you’ll gain practical tools and confidence to help young athletes thrive in sports. Female coaches matter.

No experience necessary. Come learn with us!

Register by October 12th to assure we have enough participants to run the program 

  • Saturday, October 17th: 9am-12pm
  • Harrison Middle School, Yarmouth
  • Free! 
  • Children welcome - Children may participate in the workshop and example sports drills, or spend time with the provided childcare team doing fun activities. 

Workshop content includes: 
  • Hands-on learning of age appropriate drills and games that will cross over any sport
  • Presentation on youth developments stages and age appropriate expectations
  • Speaker Lyndie Kelley from UNE, mom, youth sport coach and more - practice planning, how to keep kids attentive, safe, active and participating
  • Panel of women speaking on the value of girls in sports and the role female coaches can play
