Yarmouth Community GardenCome Grow with us! Garden Plot Renters get a 10 X 10 ft sunny organic garden plot for:$40/plot for residents and $43/plot for non-residents.Plots include fencing, tools, water, compost, and gardening advice.Registration will open on January 1, 2026: register online, call 846-2406, or come to YCS. We require that renters volunteer 6 hours per plot in our Community Garden where we grow vegetables for donation to the Yarmouth Community Food Pantry and Yarmouth Senior communities.
Our gardens are gorgeous -- come tour or rest in the shade. Volunteers are welcome and staff will provide guidance. We harvest every Tuesday and Saturday morning in the growing season. This true working boat carries passengers, mail and freight to Little Diamond, Great Diamond, Long, Cliff and Chebeague Islands. Our Grades 1–2 Youth Recreation Soccer League is designed to introduce young players to the basics of soccer in a fun, supportive, and active environment. This soccer program focuses on developing fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork through age-appropriate drills and small-sided games.The league runs for 6 weeks and includes one weekday evening practice and one Saturday morning game each week. Games are non-competitive and emphasize participation, effort, and sportsmanship over winning. Coaches are parent volunteers who create a positive, encouraging atmosphere where every child gets a chance to play and learn. Whether your child is brand new to soccer or continuing to develop their skills, this program is a great way to build confidence, stay active, and have fun with friends.REGISTRATION DEADLINE is Monday August 3rdA form will be emailed out around the registration deadline to allow parents to request a practice day. We do not guarantee the accommodation, but we will try our best. Practice times depend on volunteer coach availability. Questions? This youth field hockey league teaches the fundamentals of the game of field hockey. During the program players progress from stick skill development to basic defense, team offense and positioning on the field. PreK - 2nd grade practices are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Kids are grouped by appropriate age (PreK-K, grades 1-2). Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates announced late August). 3rd - 6th grade practices are twice a week: Typically Wednesdays or Thursdays 5-6pm (day of the week will depend on HS schedule) on the YHS Field Hockey Grass Field. Skill development clinics for both age groups (3rd-6th as well as PK-2) are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates for practices and Sunday games announced late August). **6TH grade note: Sometimes 6th graders have the opportunity to play middle school field hockey (which is 4 days a week after school) but that depends on HMS 7/8th grade numbers each year and that opportunity would not open up to 6th graders until the first week of September. If 6th graders are offered that option, 6th graders can do BOTH (Youth League and Middle School) or request a refund for Youth League with YCS. Please sign up for the Youth League through YCS if you have a 6th grader who wants to play FH! This is a great opportunity to continue to develop or try a new sport while improving skills and having fun in a team sport environment! Shin guards, sticks, eye protection (optional) and mouth guards are required. Sticks are available upon request. We require that renters volunteer 6 hours per plot in our Community Garden where we grow vegetables for donation to the Yarmouth Community Food Pantry and Yarmouth Senior communities.
Our gardens are gorgeous -- come tour or rest in the shade. Volunteers are welcome and staff will provide guidance. We harvest every Tuesday and Saturday morning in the growing season. This fun, welcoming program introduces 4th and 5th graders to the game of tennis through age-appropriate games, drills, and activities. Using red balls and modified courts, players will develop fundamental tennis skills, hand-eye coordination, and confidence in a supportive environment. Open Studio: Calm Creativity
Awakening imagination and creativity in a calm, centered, co-creative atmosphere. Kids will use a wide array of materials to make projects of their choosing.New materials and techniques will be introduced to the studio each week. The kids will work independently, while the instructor visits anyone who has a question or needs some assistance. Collaborations and group works are encouraged here.A soundtrack of meditative, instrumental music will be played in the studio space to set the tone and atmosphere.Kids can bring projects in from home, continue work from previous sessions or start fresh each meetup. Youth Field Hockey League (Grades 3-6)
This youth field hockey league teaches the fundamentals of the game of field hockey. During the program players progress from stick skill development to basic defense, team offense and positioning on the field. PreK - 2nd grade practices are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Kids are grouped by appropriate age (PreK-K, grades 1-2). Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates announced late August). 3rd - 6th grade practices are twice a week: Typically Wednesdays or Thursdays 5-6pm (day of the week will depend on HS schedule) on the YHS Field Hockey Grass Field. Skill development clinics for both age groups (3rd-6th as well as PK-2) are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates for practices and Sunday games announced late August). **6TH grade note: Sometimes 6th graders have the opportunity to play middle school field hockey (which is 4 days a week after school) but that depends on HMS 7/8th grade numbers each year and that opportunity would not open up to 6th graders until the first week of September. If 6th graders are offered that option, 6th graders can do BOTH (Youth League and Middle School) or request a refund for Youth League with YCS. Please sign up for the Youth League through YCS if you have a 6th grader who wants to play FH! This is a great opportunity to continue to develop or try a new sport while improving skills and having fun in a team sport environment! Shin guards, sticks, eye protection (optional) and mouth guards are required. Sticks are available upon request. Awakening imagination and creativity in a calm, centered, co-creative atmosphere. Kids will use a wide array of materials to make projects of their choosing.New materials and techniques will be introduced to the studio each week. Youth Field Hockey League (Grades 3-6)
This youth field hockey league teaches the fundamentals of the game of field hockey. During the program players progress from stick skill development to basic defense, team offense and positioning on the field. PreK - 2nd grade practices are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Kids are grouped by appropriate age (PreK-K, grades 1-2). Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates announced late August). 3rd - 6th grade practices are twice a week: Typically Wednesdays or Thursdays 5-6pm (day of the week will depend on HS schedule) on the YHS Field Hockey Grass Field. Skill development clinics for both age groups (3rd-6th as well as PK-2) are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates for practices and Sunday games announced late August). **6TH grade note: Sometimes 6th graders have the opportunity to play middle school field hockey (which is 4 days a week after school) but that depends on HMS 7/8th grade numbers each year and that opportunity would not open up to 6th graders until the first week of September. If 6th graders are offered that option, 6th graders can do BOTH (Youth League and Middle School) or request a refund for Youth League with YCS. Please sign up for the Youth League through YCS if you have a 6th grader who wants to play FH! This is a great opportunity to continue to develop or try a new sport while improving skills and having fun in a team sport environment! Shin guards, sticks, eye protection (optional) and mouth guards are required. Sticks are available upon request. Interactive Coding for Kids
Interactive Coding for KidsIn this hands-on class, students explore Scratch programming, using the MIT-developed programming interface to craft stories and games. Then we will use Makey Makey boards to invent new ways to interact with the Scratch projects using everyday objects. Our circuitry projects will become musical instruments, video game controllers, pressure sensors, and more. Students will learn valuable 21st-century skills while engaging in these fun, creative lessons. Collaborative project challenges enhance teamwork skills and inspire critical thinking. No prior coding experience required. Robot Commanders 101 Understanding how software can interact with robots is a key skill for the STEM jobs of tomorrow. In this class we provide several active, playful activities, where students learn about what it means to write, debug, and execute computer programs that communicate with different robotic devices. Using the power of code, students will turn Sphero SPRK+ robots into Magic 8 Balls, automated Red Light / Green Light games, and the arcade classic Pong – and Unruly Splats will become our voting machines, relay races, guessing games, and more. App Inventors Want to know how the apps work on your phone or iPad? Or do you already have the next great app idea, and just need to know how to make it? In this no-experience-required course, we use MIT App Inventor software to make fun, creative apps for Android phones and tablets. We will also explore wireless communication by building custom Bluetooth hardware controllers and readouts for our apps. Participants will learn both the programming and design aspects of creating great apps, and have the opportunity to build apps of their own with the support of Circuit Lab instructors.

This class is for the active and enthusiastic dancer. Each 50 minute class will include warm up, conditioning, stretching, individual, group, and partner dancing. This class will teach students beginning hip hop moves, dance class etiquette, how to improvise while dancing, and how to work with a group all while using fun, age-appropriate music! This co-ed class welcomes all beginning dancers. Be ready to have fun and work hard in this fast-paced class!Please note that this class is for students only. Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates announced late August). 3rd - 6th grade practices are twice a week: Typically Wednesdays or Thursdays 5-6pm (day of the week will depend on HS schedule) on the YHS Field Hockey Grass Field. Skill development clinics for both age groups (3rd-6th as well as PK-2) are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Youth Field Hockey League (Grades 3-6)
This youth field hockey league teaches the fundamentals of the game of field hockey. During the program players progress from stick skill development to basic defense, team offense and positioning on the field. PreK - 2nd grade practices are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Kids are grouped by appropriate age (PreK-K, grades 1-2). Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates announced late August). 3rd - 6th grade practices are twice a week: Typically Wednesdays or Thursdays 5-6pm (day of the week will depend on HS schedule) on the YHS Field Hockey Grass Field. Skill development clinics for both age groups (3rd-6th as well as PK-2) are on Saturday mornings 10:30-11:30am on the Turf with the High School coaches and players. Games and scrimmages are held on a few Sunday mornings (dates for practices and Sunday games announced late August). **6TH grade note: Sometimes 6th graders have the opportunity to play middle school field hockey (which is 4 days a week after school) but that depends on HMS 7/8th grade numbers each year and that opportunity would not open up to 6th graders until the first week of September. If 6th graders are offered that option, 6th graders can do BOTH (Youth League and Middle School) or request a refund for Youth League with YCS. Please sign up for the Youth League through YCS if you have a 6th grader who wants to play FH! This is a great opportunity to continue to develop or try a new sport while improving skills and having fun in a team sport environment! Shin guards, sticks, eye protection (optional) and mouth guards are required. Sticks are available upon request.
