9:00 AM - 2:00 PM    Poland Spring Museums - Poland Spring Museums
Join us for a visit to the 3 museums at the Poland Springs Resort. All 3 buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places! 1. The Maine State Building was built for the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. At the end of the fair the Ricker family of Poland Spring bought the building, took it down piece by piece, put it on a 16-car freight train and brought it to Poland Spring!  2. The 1912 All Souls Chapel is made of Maine granite, quartered sawn oak and a floor of inlaid mosaic of beautiful and expensive design. You’ll be amazed at the hand painted windows. 3. The original bottling facility and spring house is now the Poland Spring Bottling Museum. Through scientific displays and vintage memorabilia, the museum offers a close up look at one of Maine’s oldest industries. We can find lunch at Mel's Hilltop Restaurant on the property  (on your own), or bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy a picnic on the grounds.  We will visit the gift shop before heading home. Mobility concerns The Maine State Building has 3 floors and no elevator, however there are 2 exhibit rooms on the first floor along with a video tour of the upstairs.  The All Souls Chapel and Poland Spring Bottling Museum are both accessible. This trip requires being able to get on and off the YCS van, and walking on uneven terrain.

9:00 AM - 3:00 PM    Mystical Quest Camp - Mystical Quest Camp
Imagination-play, craft making and problem solving meet up in a mystical world set in nature! Kids will choose mythic archetypes and powers then band together as a team to solve perplexing mysteries and play in nature. Fairies, pages, sorceresses and wizards all have roles in this world we will create together! Crafts that further the exploration of our natural world and the mystical realm we are creating will be on offer, weaving, fort building, mask making and sword adorning to name a few. Wielding safe, foam, swasher swords, the kids can play dueling games and act out challenges like fending off a bullying ogre or a thieving crew of pixies, in an environment that teaches good sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for others. Our improvisational play will foster responsible decision-making, social awareness, and strong relationship building. We plan to be outdoors rain or shine, so weather appropriate gear will be needed on certain days. Kids will receive a swasher sword and mask they will decorate and personalize at camp!Instructors: Damaris Drummond & Katie Dosiek
